- Improve equipment performance, and overall aesthetics and appearance of your premises
- Improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprint
- Reduce/eliminate Health and Safety violations
The importance of degreasing
With the regular use of equipment, environmental dirt build up, and the fact that all machines need a lubrication like oil or grease, it is inevitable that over time these things will build up. They accumulate dirt and contaminants that can get into and on your machines, equipment, and surrounding surfaces. Using a degreaser breaks down the build up that occurs, and keeps your machinery running smoothly, and looking fresh, too.
Choosing the right industrial degreaser
With an extensive range of water based, solvent based and speciality degreasers, we have an industrial degreaser to suit your machinery. Take a look through our range or get in touch with one of our industrial maintenance experts so you can find your industrial degreaser supplier in Europe.
Explore all productsHow have industrial degreasers changed?
Let's take a look at how industrial degreasers have changed over the years; from chlorinated solvents through to aqueous solutions.
- 1950s: chlorinated solvents
- 1970s: non-chlorinated solvents
- 1980s: bio-renewable solvents
- Today: aqueous degreasers
-
1950s: chlorinated solvents
Products made from Chlorinated Solvents. Effective at removing oils, grease and are non-flammable Extremely harmful to both the environment and the user Examples: trichloroethylene, methylene chloride
-
1970s: non-chlorinated solvents
Also known as Petroleum Distillates, these have: Serious effects on health Very high in VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) Highly flammable Examples: acetone, xylene, MEK, aromatic solvents, hydrocarbon solvents
-
1980s: bio-renewable solvents
Developed from natural sources such as orange peel extracts: Highly flammable High VOCs Cause skin irritation Example: D-Limonene
-
Today: aqueous degreasers
Water as the solvent along with biodegradable surfactants Low VOC’s Corrosion inhibitors and pH adjusters to improve cleaning The safer and more environmentally friendly alternative to petroleum based solvents
Degreasing your equipment
Using the right degreaser can extend the lifespan of machinery and equipment in your facility, reduce costly and unwanted reactive maintenance and improve performance and workplace safety.
Foaming and Degreasing
Foam can adhere to vertical and overhead services, increasing contact time and better coverage. Whilst clinging to surfaces, the degreaser penetrates the soil effectively and can breakdown the grime and oil deposits. The foaming process also uses less water and the solution is dense. There is also less waste during the degreasing process, as it doesn’t drip off as quickly as some liquid cleaners.
Improving your efficiency
Clean equipment and machinery are more efficient; downtime is reduced and the life of machine parts is extended. By using the right industrial degreasers, you can improve the efficiency of your equipment, which can lead to increased productivity and reduced operating costs.
Are you using the right degreaser for the application?
At NCH Maintenance, we ensure the usage of the right solution for each application, by supplying a comprehensive range of industrial degreasing solutions. Not matching the correct industrial degreaser to the application can cause…

Using degreasers containing silicate can etch glass, alkaline products can damage aluminium, etc.
Inefficient product
May cause an increase in costs through unnecessary use and additional inventory requirements.
User safety
Unnecessarily using solvent products could pose a health and safety risk to your operators.
Are industrial degreasers safe?
Our degreasers are developed with user safety in mind; they are EDTA free and have low VOC’s. They range from water based, NSF approved solutions in our Aqua-Sol range through to solvent based formulations for degreasing electronic equipment where fast evaporation is required or immersion applications where solvent based chemicals are the best options.
National Sanitisation Foundation (NSF)
NSF is a global organisation that has processes and procedures to test products to ensure they meet specific health and safety requirements. If degreasers have the NSF accreditation and they are typically compatible within food processing and foodservice industries. A number of NCH degreasers have the NSF accreditation and can be used to remove food based grease and used in general cleaning within the food industry.
Are you using the right dilution for your concentrated degreaser product?
Using the right degreasing product is as important as using it in the right way. The easiest way to control your budget and ensure you’re getting the better value for your money is to use a Dilution System.

What’s the best application method for your industrial degreaser?
The speed and quality of degreasing is not just dictated by the chosen product.
Wrong application equipment can lead to insufficient contact time caused by product run off, inability to reach problem areas or excessive foaming. All of these factors can lead to excessive use or poor product performance, resulting in product wastage and higher inventory cost.
NCH industrial degreaser equipment
At NCH Maintenance we consider the best way to apply your chosen industrial degreasing solution. Foaming equipment ensures maximum contact time on vertical surfaces and back pack or mobile sprayers are ideal for degreasing large areas.
Our equipment range has been through extensive chemical compatibility tests to match the product chemistry to the application equipment.
