Analysis

The customer has a small operation with a critical but rather small requirement of steam. The process operators need to operate the boiler as well. Dealing with a food process, the customer could easily see the benefits of the solid program in terms of; safety, ease of manipulation and no direct contact with chemicals.

Furthermore, the customer would benefit from the HandiChem™ solid system as it eliminates the risk of potential leakages of liquid chemicals in a food processing plant

Solution

Chem-Aqua put together a customised solution using the HandiChem™ solid water treatment system. Solid products used on site include an oxygen scavenger and an internal treatment, both approved for food industry. As part of the solution and in order to decrease the costs of treatment, it has been suggested to add part of the steam in the feed water tank, in order to increase the feed water temperature up to 60°C - 85°C.

Chem-Aqua’s HandiChem™ system provided:

  • No contact with the chemicals by the operators
  • The boiler room appears always clean and tidy
  • Automatic dosage when required with the timer of the HandiFeed™
  • Cost savings on products and an increased asset protection due to the increase in feed water temperature
