Problem: structural corrosion
Rust and corrosion causes micro fractures and brittleness in structures causing them to degrade or even collapse and therefore be potentially unsafe. This process can be accelerated due to harsh environmental conditions such as in coastal locations or areas prone to acid rain.
Find out moreSolution: Salvage 2+
By encapsulating the rusted structure, Salvage 2+ stops any further corrosion. It contains micro glass and micro aluminium flakes, which gives the paint “double armour” protection. This impenetrable barrier prevents corrosive media getting through to metal. Passed 3,000 hours Scribed Hot Salt Spray test ATSM B117.

As a leading European manufacturer of rust and corrosion solutions, with patented technologies, we offer solutions you won’t find anywhere else.
Explore all productsPrepare, Treat, Protect – a three step approach to rust management
By taking a three step approach to rust management, NCH can provide a comprehensive solution whatever the rust threat facing your business.
Find out moreStep 1: Prepare
Before undertaking any form of rust treatment, first remove any loose rust and use an NCH industrial degreaser to ensure the surface is free from contaminants which may impair the performance of any treatment solution.
Step 2: Treat
We can provide a number of solutions to completely remove rust, including our pH neutral solution X-Rust 7. Our Salvage 2+ solution encapsulates rust without the need for removal by painting it onto the rusty surface, stopping further corrosion and providing outstanding protection. Alternatively Chelade converts rust into primer, which once painted over provides long term protection.
Step 3: Protect
Unless you have fully encapsulated the rust using Salvage 2+, you will need to protect the surface to prevent rust returning: We provide a range of aerosol coatings; Hy Zinc Extra, AL 217 and Stay Put; formulated to provide long term protection against corrosion. Alternatively our temporary protective coatings, Show HI and Resist X Extra provide protection from rust during storage and transportation.
Problem: corroded parts
A combination of time, oxygen and water will cause parts made of iron and its alloys to rust.
Rust causes weakening and eventual failure of parts as well as damaging user confidence and causing safety issues.
Rust could make parts unusable and therefore need to be disposed of, costing your business unnecessary expense.
Solution: X-Rust 7
Removes tarnish and rust from carbon steel, mild steel and cast iron and other metals by immersion:
- pH neutral formulation
- Effective at room temperature
- Concentrated; dilutes 1:10
- Prevents flash rusting
Problem: rust patches
Unsightly areas of rust or “rust patches” appear on parts of plant and equipment. If left untreated these areas will ultimately spread and lead to long term damage and degradation of the item.
Find out moreSolution: Chelade
Paint onto a rusty surface and Chelade will transform the surface into an instant heavy-duty primer. Compatible with most paints (once converted, apply a topcoat for long term protection) and requires minimal surface preparation, saving time (just degrease and remove loose rust)
Problem: rusting of transported goods
Manufactured metal parts and assembled or disassembled machinery can rust whilst in transit, leading to customers receiving poor quality goods.
Varying environmental conditions such as heat in trucks/trains or salt in coastal locations can lead to accelerated corrosion.
Transported goods that rust or corrode can de value and have financial impact on the business.
Solution: Resist X Extra
Before packing parts or components for transportation coat them in Resist X Extra to ensure they arrive rust free. The coating can easily be removed upon arrival.
Resist X Extra displaces and seals out moisture, providing corrosion protection.
- Leaves a lubricating film on treated surfaces (provides an oily coating)
- Easily removed when necessary (use an NCH degreaser)
- Contains no chlorinated solvents and barium free
Problem: rusted stored metal
Metal parts, machinery, tools and equipment placed in storage will rust over time. Even those stored indoors will be subject to damp, heat and humidity that can cause rust. Rust can affect inventory and have financial impact on the assets of the business.
Find out moreSolution: Show Hi
Leaves a soft, waxy, non-tacky film to protect surfaces. Does not contain chlorinated solvents, has good flexibility without cracking and excellent moisture displacement, lasts up to 18 months indoors and 9 months outdoors and can be used for exposed metals, tools and components.
Problem: returning rust
Flash corrosion can occur rapidly, particularly when an acid based rust removal product has been used.
Often, items that have been through a de-rusting process need to be used immediately. This uses up valuable manpower… which could be used in other tasks.
Solution: Aerosol Coatings
Corrosion resistant coatings supplied in convenient aerosol packaging.
All three provide excellent corrosion resistance; the zinc content of HyZinc Extra provides the most corrosion protection, however Stay Put can resist temperatures of up to 600°C.
