Industrial adhesives explained

Instant bonds, structural strength or anaerobic locking properties, which industrial adhesive does your business need?

What are industrial adhesives?

Industrial adhesives are specialised types of adhesives designed for use in various industrial applications. They are formulated to provide strong bonding properties, durability, and resistance to harsh environmental conditions.

Types of industrial adhesives

There are several types of industrial adhesives available, each with its own specific characteristics and areas of application.

Epoxy adhesives

Epoxy adhesives are versatile and provide high strength and durability. They are widely used for bonding metals, plastics, composites, and ceramics.

Cyanoacrylate Adhesives

Also known as superglue or instant adhesives, cyanoacrylates provide fast bonding for a variety of materials. They offer rapid curing and high bond strength.

Structural Adhesives

These adhesives are designed to provide extremely high strength and long-term durability. Commonly used where mechanical fastening methods are not practical or desirable.

Super Structural Technology

We are leading the way in adhesive formulation and have developed ‘Super Structural Technology!’

Mega Cryl SST

In tests, (ASTM D1002) NCH adhesives using Super Structural Technology have been shown to increase bond strength by over 40% compared to standard structural adhesives.

How does Super Structural Technology work?

Diagram 1 shows a magnified view of an adhesive bond. Although to the naked eye the surface of the substrate may appear smooth, under a microscope you will see this is not the case and it is full of peaks and troughs. A standard structural acrylic adhesive sits on the peaks.

Diagram 2 shows how the Nano formulation of a super structural technology product not only sits on the peaks of the substrate but is also able to penetrate the troughs and therefore increases the surface contact area increasing the bond strength.
