Tidlig på 1900-tallet i USA var det et stort behov for spesialiserte vedlikeholdsprodukter som følge av en økende etterspørsel etter økt hygiene og sikkerhet. Milton P. Levy Sr. så denne nye muligheten og startet NCH, da kalt National Disinfectant Company.
I starten tilbød National Disinfectant Company bare en håndfull produkter. Linjen hadde produkter som et kulltjærebasert desinfeksjonsmiddel, et insektmiddel og en flytende håndsåpe for bedre sanitærforhold på sykehus, skoler og offentlige institusjoner.
Etter hvert som selskapet begynte å vokse, ble overskuddet reinvestert i produksjonsutstyr, utvidede administrative ressurser og forskning og utvikling. Over tid begynte selskapet å produsere nesten alle sine egne produkter og ekspanderte til nye territorier.
I 1955 opplevde virksomheten enorm suksess og fortsatte å ekspandere. Med raskere, mer pålitelige jernbanetjenester og lastebilruter ble det lettere å levere til kunder over større geografiske områder.
Salgsstyrken vokste, og etter hvert vokste det frem et nytt salgsadministrasjonsteam som ledet arbeidet med ekspansjon til nye territorier. I 1956 ble det første avdelingskontoret utenfor Texas etablert i St. Louis. Innen et par år åpnet selskapet kontorer i New York og Los Angeles. For å holde tritt med den økende etterspørselen ble fire nye produksjonsanlegg bygget på ulike steder i USA.
På 1960-tallet endret National Disinfectant Company navnet til National Chemsearch Corporation, og salget ble utvidet til Karibien, Canada, Sentral- og Sør-Amerika og Europa. I 1969 ble National Chemsearch-aksjen notert på New York Stock Exchange med symbolet NCH.
Geografien for selskapets virksomhet endret seg, men ikke filosofien. Denne filosofien var fortsatt basert på en sterk salgsorganisasjon og levering av overlegne vedlikeholdsprodukter og -tjenester, med salgsstyrken som den primære lenken til kundene.
I 1978 endret selskapet navn fra National Chemsearch til NCH Corporation.
På 1990-tallet trådte NCH inn i det sentraleuropeiske markedet og utvidet virksomheten til verdens største marked, Kina.
Selskapets 37 år lange historie som børsnotert selskap ble avsluttet i 2003, da Levy-familien kjøpte 100 % av NCHs aksjer.
I dag feirer NCH 100 år med betjening av kunder i over 50 land i Nord- og Latin-Amerika, Europa, Australia og Asia.

Thank you to FareShare for our tshirts! A group of NCH employees are taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Snowdon, walking 9 miles and climbing 975m (3,199ft) to the summit from Llanberis in Wales, raising funds for one of our partner charities @FareShare, a UK charity fighting hunger and tackling food waste.
Huge well done and thank you to our UK colleagues, Paul Gilbert and Carl Darby, who successfully completed the Simplyhealth Great Birmingham 10k on Sunday 26th May, supporting and raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support; one of our partner charities in celebration of 100 years of business.

We have teamed up with FareShare, a food distribution charity fighting hunger and tackling food waste and Macmillan, supporting their Macbrum campaign across Birmingham and the Black Country
To celebrate our centenary year, throughout 2019 we will be giving back to our local communities through volunteer work and contributions

NCH is proud to present the Nordic countries’ first activity for #NCHCares. We have sponsored three youth girl teams (football, floorball and handball), providing them with reflective vests and bracelets. They can now exercise safely outdoors by being visible in the dark.
Heute hat ein weiteres Team von NCH-Kollegen anlässlich unseres 100-jährigen Firmenjubiläums und dem dazugehörigen Motto „NCH Cares“ die Speisekammer in Mörfelden durch die Ausgabe von Kaffee, Brezeln und Präsenten an bedürftige Menschen unterstützt.
Die Speisekammer wird von dem Sozialpsychiatrischen Verein betrieben und versorgt 40 bis 70 Menschen pro Woche.
Der Verein ist ein gemeinnütziger Verein, der psychisch kranken Menschen im Landkreis Groß-Gerau Hilfe anbietet und sich auch in der Prävention engagiert.
Wir danken dem Sozialpsychiatrischen Verein Kreis Groß-Gerau e.V. und der Speisekammer für den wertvollen Einblick in ihre ehrenvolle Arbeit und wünschen ihr für die Zukunft weiterhin viel Erfolg.
Schule in Norddeutschland nahm am 24.05.2019 an Wohltätigkeitslauf für UNICEF teil!
NCH freut sich, Kinga Zimmermann (Tochter des NCH-Außendienstmitarbeiters Dirk Zimmermann) bei diesem Lauf unterstützt und eine Spende beigetragen zu haben. Danke an Kinga für das soziale Engagement und Deine Teilnahme an dieser wunderbaren Aktion!
Der deutsche Fußballstar und UNICEF-Botschafter Mats Hummels ist Schirmherr der Initiative „Wir laufen für UNICEF“. Durch diese von Schulen organisierten Läufe unterstützen Schüler in Deutschland Kinder in Krisen- und Kriegsgebieten.
Durch diese Aktion engagieren sich viele junge Menschen in Deutschland für Kinder und Jugendliche im gleichen Alter auf der ganzen Welt, die aufgrund von Krieg und Gewalt ihre Heimat verlassen mussten. Die Spenden gehen hauptsächlich an UNICEF und teilweise auch an die teilnehmenden Schulen.
Über diese NCH-Aktion erschien am 23.05.2019 sogar ein Artikel in der Zeitung Freitags-Anzeiger.
Am 21.05.2019 hat unser NCH-Team in Deutschland im Rahmen der NCH 100 Jahre bzw. nach dem Motto „NCH Cares“ bei der Speisekammer Mörfelden Kaffee und Brezeln an Bedürftige ausgegeben. Zusätzlich erhielt jeder ein Präsent bestehend aus Kaffee, NCH-100-Jahre-Artikeln und ein NCH-Hautpflegeprodukt.
